Routing and distance checks for NZ address workflows
StreetKit address selection gives your workflow structured address fields and coordinates when the source data includes them. This page explains what can be done now with straight-line checks, what belongs in managed service-area setup, and what remains planned for live routing.
Current status
Public live routing API access is not available yet. StreetKit Route is planned for address-to-address distance and travel-time estimates, with a public product path coming soon.
Radius can work now for estimated straight-line checks when
radiusRules is configured and the selected address
includes latitude and longitude. Drive Zones are available as a
managed setup for bounded fixed-origin service areas.
How the distance options fit
Selected address coordinates
StreetKit starts with a selected LINZ-backed NZ address. The result can include a stable address ID, structured fields, and coordinates for workflows that need distance context.
Straight-line Radius
Radius uses selected-address coordinates and a configured origin to estimate straight-line distance. It is not road distance or travel time.
Managed Drive Zones
Drive Zones are a managed option for fixed origins where the same road-aware eligibility check runs many times.
Future live routing
Live address-to-address driving distance is the planned flexible option for quotes, dispatch, booking, and comparing two selected addresses.

Live routing is coming soon
Live routing is intended for workflows where the origin and destination change on each request: quote forms, booking flows, delivery estimates, field-service scheduling, and job-to-job comparisons.
Until public API access is available, use Radius for simple straight-line checks and contact us for managed Drive Zones if your workflow has fixed origins and sensible coverage limits.
Limitations
- No public live routing API is available unless a future routing product is implemented.
- No live routing is performed by the browser widget for Drive Zones.
- No live traffic is used.
- No exact or certified travel time is provided.
- No courier-specific delivery certification is provided.
- No NZ Post delivery certification, DPID, PO Box, Private Bag, or postal deliverability result is provided.
- LINZ coordinates are address points, not road snap points, entrances, parcel boundaries, or delivery points.
- Road-aware estimates can differ from courier networks, local restrictions, and real-time conditions.
- Routing estimates would not replace customer-owned pricing, staffing, delivery exceptions, or manual review rules.
