Official/open address data

The first StreetKit version is based on official/open New Zealand physical address data from LINZ NZ Addresses layer 123113.

Source model

StreetKit transforms source address records into search-ready suggestions and selected-address details. Dataset version and source metadata should be visible so developers can understand changes.

LINZ is a source dataset for StreetKit. StreetKit does not query LINZ while users type addresses into a form.

StreetKit is a physical address autocomplete/index product. It is not the official source of addresses, not NZ Post delivery certified, and not a postal or courier delivery authority.

LINZ attribution

Address data contains data sourced from the LINZ Data Service and is licensed for reuse under CC BY 4.0. StreetKit v1 uses LINZ NZ Addresses layer 123113 for physical address autocomplete.

Drive Zones routing attribution

Drive Zones output is based on OpenStreetMap road data only when a Drive Zones dataset has been prepared for a configured workflow. Routing data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License.

Address data metadata

StreetKit v1 metadata exposes the source provider, dataset, layer, source URL, data dictionary URL, source export time when known, StreetKit data version, licence, attribution, limitations, and access mode.

source.exportedAt describes the LINZ source snapshot used for StreetKit address data. source.builtAt describes when StreetKit prepared that data. Neither field is a delivery-certification date.

Public metadata uses access.mode = "public" and siteRequired = false. Registered metadata uses access.mode = "registered", a browser-visible siteId. The siteId is a public traffic label, not a secret or authentication credential.

Data limitations

  • Official/open physical address data is not the same as delivery-point data.
  • A source address may not be accepted by every postal or courier network.
  • Some fields, such as postcodes or coordinates, may be absent or incomplete.
  • Postcodes are source detail values when present, not a delivery-certification signal.
  • Coordinates are source address point coordinates, not proof of an entrance, delivery point, routing point, or property boundary.
  • StreetKit v1 does not provide DPID, delivered-only filtering, postal validation, PO Box, Private Bag, Counter Delivery, RD/mailtown, courier deliverability, or delivery guarantees.
  • Dataset changes should be expected as source data is updated.
